Carl will clean that right up

I just couldn't resist adding that video in...

On Sunday we took Pie to Middle Sister's for her first pool day. We covered her in sunblock and made her a sticky, slippery, shiny, smell-good lovie. She kept looking at us like, what the hell dudes!? She's been working really hard to get beach season ready. I think you'll agree that all her hard work payed off. I mean just look at that rockin' bikini bod!
Here we go...the first steps into the pool. Some of the other neighborhood kids were over and I think Pie was a little overwhelmed by the additional splashing and noise. But she was intrigued nonetheless.
She really wasn't sure what to make of the whole outing. But she kicked, splashed, and scowled intently at the water. She also kicked like a good little swimmer when Husband floated her on her tummy. It was cracking me up. I just wish I'd had the video camera handy!
Being the awesomely focused mom that I am, I forgot Pie's hat and her float. Thankfully Middle Sister had one of the nephews' old hats handy for her to borrow.
I just loved this picture. I wish she had been looking right at me, but with the water on her face, and her eyes so clear and her little, kissable mouth...I just want to eat her up.
All in all it was a good adventure. We were only in the pool about 15 minutes, but she had fun (despite her continued refusal to smile in pictures). We're going back over this weekend for another try. I'm hoping she loves being in the water as much as Husband and I do. Especially since she has more bikinis to model than a swimwear fashion show.

So cute! My little Mouse just sits there and floats in the pool. We aren't really sure what she is thinking about it. At least she doesn't cry like she does for bath time though.

JJAM - I can't wait to see what she thinks about the float, when she can see both Husband and I. Pie loves tub time, always has, so that's why I'm thinking she'll be a little water baby.

K - tell your daughter hey baby right back! This bikini was from the clearance rack at Target, was $3.99. Gotta love a bargain!

Thanks Angela! She has a bunch so I agonized over which one she should wear for her pool debut, knowing it would be a well documented event!

Thanks all! It was a blast. I just need to get better and faster with the sunblock, she was pretty annoyed with that process!

I talk, then you talk, and sometimes I talk back again. It's a conversation! And we can all pretend we're not internet shut-ins who never talk to anyone. Hooray!
