2. For reals yo. Here's my guest post at The Very Best Housewife.

And because I'm too tired to think of anything new to say about it...It's all about the mess that was my wedding. And I didn't even talk about our drunk Best Man's 5 word speech (Um...yeah...congrats you guys). So just imagine what I did talk about. Are you imagining? Are you? I also order you to ignore the big hair, the half ton of makeup, and the inexplicable fake nails. It was a long time ago people so cut me some slack!

3.This little girl, my tiny little baby has her first TOOTH! Wednesday when I came home from work the tiny, bottom lefty was waiting for me. She has been awesome! Just look how happy she is...hanging out, being a sweet rolly polly olly!

*Updated* Make that first and SECOND tooth!!!

I may have lied...

I thought I had a guest post going up today, but there's every chance in the world that I got my dates mixed up. So to make amends for the post that wasn't, I'll distract you with my happy girl...

Out and about

The post isn't up yet...but should be shortly...

Today I have a guest post over at The Very Best Housewife. It's all about the mess that was my wedding.

Squeak squeak

Ahh Sophie the Giraffe, you are so tasty. Make sure your volume is on because Sophie + Pie's gums = awesomely hilarious noise.

Oh how I love you Friday

1. Friday Follow, Blog Hop Friday and New Friend Friday...

friday-follow

This week Friday Follow is hosted by the Duck Fest Auction Winner, Shell from Things I Can’t Say, and Terri from That What She Said.

Blog Hop Friday is hosted by My New Life As Mom, Chubby Cheeks Thinks, Take A Mom's Word For It, Bree Bee's, This Adventure Our Life and Belly Charms!

New Friend Fridays is hosted by The Girl Creative and Trendy Treehouse.

2. Yesterday I had some peeps ask questions...here are the answers in case you missed them. I'm always happy to answer, so feel free to ask whenever!

Marc asked -
I have a question.. can I steal Pie to pick up women?? Is that wrong of me??? LOL
It probably is wrong, but absolutely. It seemed to be working last night! LOL.

-K asked -
What's your favorite ice cream?

I'm going old school classic with this one...Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough. YUM.

Her Momma asked -
What was your wedding song and why?
It was James Taylor's My Romance. It was picked because the words were so sweet, perfect and simple. Plus it was short :D. Here it is for anyone not familiar...just listening again made me a little teary eyed.

Salt asked (well said really) -
Mmmmmm margaritas sound so good right now. I don't care that it's only 11am.
I concur whole-heartedly!

Bronzed asked -
What time are you coming home today? we miss you
As quickly as is humanly possible. I miss you too...especially after listening to our wedding song :)

Cris Goode asked -
What is your favorite thing to do when you have an hour to yourself?
Read...without question. I am a great lover of books and words in general. My deep, dark secret dream is to be a published author. So when I have time to myself (bahahaha...yeah right) the first thing I do is read.

lindsey asked -
hhhmmm...what kind of music do you prefer to listen to?
This is a tough question. What I listen to shifts with my mood, but I would say that for the most part it falls into the singer/songwriter, folk-y kind of genre. I really dig Alexi Murdoch, Amos Lee, and one of my all time favorites is Ray LaMontagne. Here's a really great song of his (video is just a static picture). Let It Be Me is also a completely amazing song of his...

I am asked -
What is the question you would most like to be asked? Why does that question stand out as important/interesting to you?
First let me say that it's well worth your while to check out I Am's blog. OK, now for the questions...this is a really hard one, or two-parter as the case may be...I suppose the question I'd most like to be asked would be 'is motherhood what you thought it would be/does it live up to your expectations'. It stands out for me because I think reality is almost always different than what you expect or what you've imagined. And I think society expects parenting (mothering in particular) to be all rainbows and unicorns. I think it's important for people to be able to say it's fantastic and is also kicking my ass without an online riot ensuing.

3. Another vacation pic...this is the view from the second floor deck. At some point I'll do a recap of that fantastic week.

UPDATED - Jumped in on some other blog hops run by new followers/newly followed by me-ers :)

Margaritas...

...may have been consumed last night. As a result I can't come up with anything clever for today. So I'll distract you with pictures of Pie. Look shiny.Additionally, I'm totally going to steal this idea from several of my favorite bloggy peeps. All the cool kids are doing it, she said looking for a bridge to jump off. Anyway, the idea is being an open book. I'm totally going to call it Open Book Thursday...or maybe Thoroughly Read Thursday. Hmmm, that still needs some work.

The point is ask me anything. Anything at all...about Pie, the adoption, myself, Husband...whatever is on your mind. Don't be shy, I'm nearly impossible to offend!

*QUESTIONS*

The good, the bad, and the about to get ugly in here

THE GOOD:

Drama Mama over at The Scoop on Poop, passed this lovely award onto me today. Ahhh, these things make me happy...lovin' the love. So thank you DM, your scoop and your poop are beyond compare.Take a minute and check for yourself. Seriously. Do it.

Ok so here are the fun parts...passing it on and 7 things about me...

Jenny at Yankovich 6 Pack
Brittany at Unexpected Surprises
Chelsea Rebecca at TRIUMPHS and blunders of a KOOKY gal
Lindsey at This is our life
Katie at The Nerdy Katie
Andra at The Domestic Project
Ian at THE DAILY DOSE OF REALITY
Kady at Take A Mom's Word For It
Brandi at My Three Bubs
Dandee at My Favorite Things

1. I watch a lot of tv. Really a lot of tv. I suppose it's dropped off some since the arrival of Pie though. I love lamp. I mean...I love tv.
2. I love adult beverages of almost any kind...except spiced rum. Hell to the no on that one.
3. No matter how bad a movie is, if I've invested enough time in it (more than 20 minutes or so) I feel obligated to watch the end of it.
4. I dig a scruffy sort of dude. Think Dave Matthews, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogan. They only pretty boy I've been enjoying of late is Eric from True Blood. Yum.
5. I always knew I'd marry a man with an accent...I guess I should have been more specific. I was thinking European, I got Southern.
6. I refuse to go in natural bodies of water further than about calf level. I just can't make myself be in the same place as all kinds of unknown, possibly bite-y things that will touch me without my permission.
7. My favorite curse word changes frequently. At the moment it's balls. But you have to say it loud and all angry like...BALLS!

THE BAD:
This little girl has you all fooled. She looks sweet and innocent, but she is punishing me with a capital "P". We had 10 days together during vacation. It was bliss. We got home and went to court the next day. Then, I had to go back to work. Ever since she has made sure I know how unhappy she is with me. Deliberate turning away, stopping the smiles, the laughs...she's a stinker!

THE UGLY:
I was reading a post out in bloggy land about adoption. The general sentiments of the writer were that adoption was selfish, that the only really selfless choice is to parent or abort, and adoption in general was tantamount to abandonment. The post goes on to comment that any adoptive parent who might have sympathy for a birth parent is simply faking to get their greedy, grubby hands on a baby to fill their desperate and barren life.

Whew. I don't normally get into stuff like this. I really think to each his own...everyone has the right to their opinion. HOWEVER, if you put your opinion out into the universe you must also be prepared to have others comment. My comment is WTF! Seriously...WTF?!

I cannot, no matter how I try to frame it, think of this point of view as anything other than bitter and wildly skewed. I am not making any political or social commentary about what I think of abortion, but the fact that there are people (the writer and many, many commenters) who believe that it is preferably to adoption, and that adoption is not a viable and valuable choice floors me. There are thousands upon thousands of families created through adoption. Loving people who have a child/children because of it, and children who now have families and homes because of it.

I am not naive. I know there are plenty of adoptions that don't go well, for the family or the child. I know there are people out there who adopt and then send the kid back to Russia with a note that he's too hyper. I know that. But for every one story like that, there are hundreds or thousands like my own. There are also adoptive parents who do care for the well being of the birth parents. While we can have sympathy, we cannot have empathy...unless we've gone through the situation on both sides. I get being bothered by someone saying, "Oh I know exactly how you feel" because they likely don't. But what's wrong with someone saying. "this has got to be hard/sad/confusing/etc for you and I'm sorry for that"?

I'm actually shaking I'm so, I don't even know, pissed...shocked...saddened...by this. I really don't know what else to say about it. I just can't fathom having that point of view...

Sorry this one was so long. I apparently had quite a bit to say :-D

2. Pie and I were out running errands on Saturday. At Target, which I alternate between cursing and longing for, people stopped us in nearly every aisle. This doesn't usually happen, but little Pie was so happy and chatty that she was drawing lots of attention. Everyone who stopped us had lovely and kind things to say. About half of them had to ask whether Pie was a boy or girl first though. I would have thought the hot pink tank top was a clue...

3. I saw a family friend this weekend for the first time since Pie was born. I remarked that I still couldn't believe I was someone's mother. His response was, "I can. You were supposed to be someone's mom, and the world is a better place because you are." I wanted to cry. It was such a sweet thing to say, and such a boost when I'm not always sure about my parenting.

What about you guys? Any great compliments lately? Or comments that just made your day?

Wordless Wednesday - Supermodel Edition

Really...that's how you're going to behave? We met all of your demands. Your room is filled with Similac Soy Formula scented candles, there are dozens of things that are either shiny or make a crinkle noise, and there are exactly 100 green M&Ms in alphabetical order. What's that? Yes, I know your parents sing you the ABC song every day and you'll totally know if they aren't in the right order. Seriously, don't be a diva.Ah...that's the smile we've been waiting for...Now play coy......And back to the smile....Now blow kisses to the camera...what? Is that a confusing direction?...You could at least pretend you're enjoying this...

For realz yo...

I'm still trying to get settled from the vacation madness and the unbelievable amount of work waiting for me when I got home. Fingers crossed we'll be back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.

In the mean time, make sure you check out Ericka at Alabaster Cow's guest post. And my guest post over there.
