A pox on my house

All manner of germs have decided to descend upon my house. Husband has a cold and a sinus infection. He's all kinds of sniffy and cough-y. And I inexplicably have managed to pick up strep throat.

Holy craptastic does it hurt. I can't swallow without cringing. And I lost my voice to boot. We've been keeping Pie at arms length, I haven't been near her at all since I'm still contagious. It is insanely hard. Poor love probably thinks she's being punished. We are normally all over her, and she hasn't had a kiss in days!

My family has been awesome, parachuting in to watch her and get her out of the house of germs. We thought being without Pie for a few hours would be relaxing. And while it was nice to nap and melt into the couch without any responsibility, the house felt empty. Without Pie something was missing.

Just typing this I realized I finally had my moment. The moment I've been waiting for when it all felt real. Feeling like my house was incomplete without her, feeling like I couldn't get settled without her near me...excuse me while I go cry a little bit....

Awwww, man that stinks! Not that this has ever stopped me from being a freak about germs around any of my babies, but my ped swears it is very rare for kiddos under a year old to get strep. The only thing worse than you guys being sick would be to have sweet little Pie not feel good, though, so I'm with ya... I'd be careful too. I hope y'all feel better soon! :)

Ohhhh I'm glad you had your moment because it IS real and Pie IS a part of you!
The hubs and I got some awful stomach thing a couple months back and I thought I was gonna die- not from puking but from missing my Lovie so friggin much... Hope you both start feeling better super soon!

Awww...this is breaking my heart. I get strep throat every year, and usually have multiple bouts in the same season, so I know how you are feeling. and I think all the illness is making you miss Pie even more, which is good. Missing your is natural but think that her getting sick is one less thing you have to worry about right now.

Being the pragmatic sort I'm not too good at "sending thoughts" and "wishing you well." So I'll try to sum all the positive and congratulatory thoughts up in a recipe for home-made cough syrup.

One 4 oz shot whiskey
One Tbs honey
One tsp cayenne pepper (may be reduced to 1/2 tsp if necessary)

Mix, drink, cry, sleep.

That cough syrup from {I am} sounds fantastic!
Hope you all feel better sooner then later and make sure to give Pie all sorts of kisses and love when you do!

Brandi - exactly. We're doing our level best to keep the germs of lovie Pie. I can't wait to give her kisses again though.

Thanks Her Momma - Sorry you guys are feeling yucky too. Hope you start feeling better!

Angie - I used to get it all the time as a kid, but haven;t had it in several years. As soon as the doctor said I think it's strep, I was like duh...that's exactly what it is. Forgot how bad it stinks!

I Am - have sent Husband to the store to gather any missing ingredients. Can't wait to give it a try!

Lindsey - It does, doesn;t it?! I'm definitely going to give it a try. And little Pie has no idea what's coming :) as soon as we feel better she's won't be able to get away from all the kisses!

Oh no! So sorry to hear that y'all are sick, but I sure hope that Miss Pie doesn't get it.
That has to be hard not being able to kiss on that sweet little punkin.

Hope ya'll get better SOON!

Thanks Sara - Antibiotics are flowing freely here, so hopefully the germs will be defeated shortly and we can go back to our regularly scheduled smooching.

It's amazing what those little munchkins can do to ya!!! Hope you feel better soon. I think there is some nasty stuff going around. Mia has an ear infection and a nasty cough...just hoping that me and the hubs don't catch anything.

Uggg there is definitely something going around. I'm knocking on my desk right now hoping that I don't get it.

I hope you get well soon! Summer is not a time to feel like hot garbage.

I talk, then you talk, and sometimes I talk back again. It's a conversation! And we can all pretend we're not internet shut-ins who never talk to anyone. Hooray!
