Daily Pie

As I've mentioned, dearest husband stays home with Pie. I go to work. Because I'm not with her all day, I try to do things that keep me involved. I pick out her clothes every night, I'm buying a baby food maker so that when she starts non-cereal food it will be me that makes it, but my favorite thing is my Daily Pie.

Every single day Husband takes a couple of picture of Pie and sends them to me at work. That way I can see what she looks like in the outfit I picked, what her mood seems to be, and just see her sweet face. I miss her so much during the day, and the pictures help ease the sting a little.

It started out just for me, then the grandmothers heard about it, then the aunts, uncles, cousins...now about 10 people get the picture everyday. Husband's aunt has her whole office waiting for it. She tells them her Daily Pie has arrived and they all gather to ohh and ahhh over it. My brother, who travels a lot and is crazy for his Pie, gets his fix when he's been away from her for awhile. The grandmothers get to comment on how big she's getting or her new expressions. Some of the grandmothers {cough...my MIL..cough} like to comment on the outfits they don't like.

It's been a really sweet thing for everyone and now we have a picture of little Pie from nearly every day of her life. I just can't believe she's already gone from this......to this...

I have a coworker who begs me for pictures on a regular basis, but we are so behind on life right now that it never happens! Well, we're taking them, but uploading is where we falter.

Fakey - I'm the opposite. I accost my co-workers to just look at one more picture. I'm sure they're all wishing an evil hex on my camera.

That is such a sweet tradition. If my husband wasn't almost done with work for the summer, I'd do this for him.

Think how cool it will be to look back later and see how she changed from day to day.

Marc - what the hell?! You mean they want you to WORK for your paycheck? I don't understand...

MIM - It's crazy!! I seriously can't believe how big she's gotten, and you're dead on...it's been the blink of an eye!

Ally - most of my co-workers are awesome. They threw us a huge shower after we got Pie, made all kinds of yummy food, bought an amazing cake and were far too generous. The whole back of my Explorer was full. They all still come in with coupons, books, clothes...little things they see that they think Pie will like.

Jen - It just started to ease my working mom guilt, but I love that we have her so well documented. Husband put a slideshow together of all the Daily Pie pictures and we watched with mouths hanging open. We just can't believe how little, itty-bitty she used to be!

Aw, that is a great idea!!! My husband is a stay-at-home-dad too, and sends me little cell phone pics and videos of the kids sometimes, but they're usually of the kids doing something ridiculous and/or embarrassing. I need to work on him to get him to send me the sweet stuff, too. ;-)

I talk, then you talk, and sometimes I talk back again. It's a conversation! And we can all pretend we're not internet shut-ins who never talk to anyone. Hooray!
