Facebook and Twitter Questions

Okay so I have a confession. I have no interest in being on Facebook or Twitter. I know, I know...it's shocking right? Facebook...well if I wanted to be in touch with people from my past, I would be. And Twitter? I just don't think I have that much to say. So I am the one. The seemingly last person on earth to have neither Facebook nor Twitter accounts.

However...I think both are important to have for Home Made Happy to drive business, announce new products and deals, etc. This is where you guys come in. I have no idea how to do that. {hangs head in techno shame}

I simply have no clue how to to use these tools to their fullest. I understand the mechanics...how to tweet and how to post...I just don't know how to approach it. How do I get the info out there and get people excited without being obnoxious?

So I'm looking to you my clever bloggy friends. Especially those of you with shops...I can think of several off the top of my head...how do I make it work?

I don't even get the point of Twitter. To me, it's the same as FB which I do have- and mainly only to keep in contact with FAMILY believe it or not! They don't have access to my blogs, but I do post gobs of photos of Lovie on FB and keep it very private. As for a business aspect, I think going on FB is an awesome idea. After you sign up, I think you can link it to your blog so make sure you do that to your business blog and this one, too. I'll be your FB friend. :) Also, once you're on FB, it's pretty easy to update it and you can even link your blog posts on it, too. DO IT!!

Ohh, linking back to the blog. Yeah...I need to figure that out!
Get on the twat right now. I will help you through it. And what else? You can watch as I devour people. Daily.

i have been on twitter for awhile. i'm still not that good at it and i'm pretty sure i don't know how to do all the things on it that other people do. i made a facebook page for my etsy store but i don't really use it or update it now. but i figured out how to do it from the etsy forums (not sure the exact post).

Do you think it helped at all?
You're not the last one...my husband has neither. I am more of a FB person, but I just signed up for Twitter for Macaroni Kid. Really don't get the point of it except ANYONE can follow you. So in your case, good because you have an online store.

When you make a FB page be sure to do the option where people can "like" your page vs the one where you have to ask them to join. Just something I learned from having my business page! Other than that, the more you're on it the more you'll get used to it!

Yeah, I've seen that like option all over the place. I need to make sure that's set up.
No Facebook? I can't imagine! ;)

And while we're on the subject of technology...I'm clueless on how to put your HMH button on my sidebar. (I know, I know it's probably SO simple! I just can't get it to link up!)

I know it's crazy!

Hmmm...well let me make sure that my code is right. It's totally possible that it's wrong :)
I hate FB, but Twitter is fun. I actually didn't like Twitter at first, but it got fun fast. I don't use it to promote business, or really even my blog. I just have fun chatting with some of the other moms.

I feel like I have missed so much! I just clicked over to Home Made Happy! How exciting for you!!! I use both twitter and FB and although I am no pro and probably not the best person for advice. ;-) Congrats on the new site!

I will be emailing you shortly :)
dude, if you figure out how to get millions & tons & lots of people to follow you via fb or the tweeter, let me know the trick. but mostly i think it's just a slow & gradual process of people finding you & getting excited over time. other than that, giveaways are always heplful.
