Cruel and unusual punishment

I'm hooking up with Northwest Mommy for Monday Listicles. This week's theme is
"Top Ten Strange (odd/unusual/funny/interesting) Jobs you have held in your life."

I haven't had 10 different jobs (chalk that up to being at my current jobs for 12+ years), so I'm going to focus on one job in particular and all the kooky things I had to do with it.

Top 10 Bizarre Things I Had To Do At Discovery Zone
(Discovery Zone was an indoor playgroud)
  1. Look at this day-in and day-out and wear a matching uniform. Yikes.
  2. Clean the ball pits (there were 2 huge ones and a baby area one) out completely, wash the balls, and refill them every. single. night.
  3. Do the chicken dance...oh dear god the chicken dance...about a dozen times in any given shift.
  4. Crawl through the tubes cleaning all manner of bodily fluids and debris. This was not a pretty job.
  5. "Host" a Power Rangers birthday party, including mandatory trivia questions, for the son of the CREATOR of Power Rangers. Talk about pressure! He ended up being really sweet and asking for me specifically to do his daughter's party a few months later. **not me in photo**
  6. Stabalize a broken leg while waiting for paramedics.
  7. Count tickets, by the thousands, being swapped for completely worthless junk in the arcade.
  8. Oversee lock-ins. This really was cruel, especially after having already worked all day.
  9. Answer the phone, "Good morning/afternoon/evening. Are you in the zone?!" And the manager was always standing next to phone so you had to do it with lots of enthusiam. Gag.
  10. Wear parachute pants. And I'm totally not kidding. The shirt matched the god awful scene above and it was paired with black parachute pants. The whole place was full of that "schoo, schoo, schoo" sound of people walking. Then when we got bought out and turned into a Leaps and Bounds we thought we'd get to lose the pants. Guessed wrong. They just changed the shirt from primary colors to pastels. And the phone message to, "Good morning/afternoon/night. Are you ready to leap into fun?!"

I talk, then you talk, and sometimes I talk back again. It's a conversation! And we can all pretend we're not internet shut-ins who never talk to anyone. Hooray!
