Antsy

That's really the only way I can describe it. I am wicked antsy in the pantsy. I don't know if it's the possible financial doom, the huge change of career, or the absolute uncertainty of the upcoming year, but I'm feeling like I need to do something a little nutty.

I feel almost like this time right now might be my last chance to be stupid or daring. I'm feeling like I may need to:

Add some purple to my hair...
{+}

Or get this piercing...
{+}

Or maybe this one...
{+}

Or maybe get another one of these...
{+}

I'm not sure any of these things will happen, but it's kind of nice to think about. Do you ever feel like this?

YES, I get the haircolor/tattoo/piercing urges too!

So what do you do? I'm really wanting to give in :)
I generally think about it think about it think about it----and before I've come to any decision, the urge has passed! I did put highlights in my hair last time, though.
The hair is sort of the one I'm leaning towards at the moment. It's the easiest and the girl who cuts my hair said she'd do it for a couple of bucks a stripe. Who knows I may show up looking like a grape any day now.
Do the hair! It'll be fun. Or the piercing. Those are fun too.
I don't know if this is still pertinent or not, but I'm weighing in all the same. When it comes to getting shiny (pierced) or smudgy (tattooed) I'm a big fan looooong planning time. Getting modified out of antsiness is likely to lead to cover-up ink and scars from "former" piercings. I suggest coming up with a plan and sitting on it for at least a couple months. Preferably about a year. If you still want it then, without significant change to the plan, go ahead and get it. If the plan has changed drastically or if you're still unsure after a year, don't get it. It may be a neat idea but not practical, or might just be a nice day dream and poor reality. Please keep in mind I say this as a guy with a big ring in his nose, pencil sized holes in his conches, and a pretty fair amount of ink under his skin. Then again, I'm also a primitivist and tend to use modifications as marks of personal history or rights of passage (example: my conches commemorate my son's birth).

The short version - hair is easy to change your mind about and cheap to deal with. Mods, especially when done right, aren't either of those.
