How different things were...

The prompt, "Share what you were blogging about last year at this time...what has changed?"
******************************

Last year I was celebrating the birth of Big Sister's second daughter. She turned one yesterday and I have no idea where the time went. I can't wait to see her dive into the cake at her party this weekend!

I also had a little series called Ask the Expert. My incredibly brilliant mom, who has about eleventy billion graduate degrees in education and psychology, answered your questions. I really should do that again...

And of course there were pictures of Pie. This one in particular will be pulled out when she starts dating.

Things couldn't possibly be more different now. After the whole Topomax/going legally blind thing my blogging has dropped off tremendously. I'm trying to get back into the swing of it, but it's hard. Really hard. And in the time I was gone, I lost followers and my readership dropped dramatrically. Talk about out of sight out of mind...if you'll pardon the phrase. Hehehe...blind joke...good times.

What we thought would be a couple of weeks has now turned into nearly four months of uncertainty, pain, anger, and pretty much every other emotion you can imagine. I'm still not at the point where they can take corrective measures. I still can't drive. I still can't work full-time. I still can't read Pie a book unless the print is HUGE and the contrast between words and background is stark. I still can't believe this happened.

But all I can do is keep moving forward. Keep trying to get back into this community that I have missed. Keep trying to hold my stabby-shiv making impulses to a minimum. I think booze should help with that last bit...

Great post. I liked the going back and seeing what was going on a year ago.

Wow. I am so very sorry about your eyesight. Hopefully, the doctors can help you figure that out. And congrats on your daughter turning a year. They all fly. My first is leaving for college in a month. whew.

Oh my! What a year you have had! I hope and pray that things will go better for you in the coming year.

I went and looked at Pie's picture. Adorable! But I imagine you could blackmail her with it when she starts dating.

I'm still here chicky. I haven't commented (which is totally shitty of me), but I've popped in to see how you were when you put up a new post. Pie is adorable, as always. Your situation is heartbreaking and I really hope that things will be better for you soon. Sending prayers, girl. Hang in there.

I know how frustrating it can be to feel the life you know and love slip into the unknown. Hang in there, things can change when you least expect it!

Oh boy - so sorry to hear about your eyesight problem! I hope the doctors can get it sorted out for you, and hopefully (definitely!) next year this time you will write a beautiful post about how you are all better and 20/20 again! Hugs!!

I talk, then you talk, and sometimes I talk back again. It's a conversation! And we can all pretend we're not internet shut-ins who never talk to anyone. Hooray!
